Frequently Asked Questions

Expert advice on growing and caring for your David Austin English Roses

When is the best time to plant my roses?

Bare root roses should be planted in late autumn or early spring while they are dormant. Potted roses can be planted year-round, provided the ground is not frozen or waterlogged.

How do I care for my roses during the first year?

Ensure your roses are watered regularly, especially during dry spells. Apply a specialized rose fertilizer in early spring and again in early summer to promote healthy growth and abundant blooms.

What is your guarantee on rose health?

We offer a 5-year guarantee on all our roses. If your rose fails to grow or dies within five years of purchase, we will replace it free of charge, provided it has been cared for according to our instructions.

How are bare root roses shipped?

Bare root roses are shipped during the dormant season (November to April). They are lifted from our fields, their roots are cleaned, and they are packed in moisture-retentive material to ensure they arrive in peak condition.

Can I grow David Austin roses in pots and containers?

Yes, many of our varieties are perfectly suited for large containers. We recommend choosing a pot at least 45cm deep and using a high-quality loam-based compost mixed with well-rotted manure.

What is your return policy for non-plant items?

For garden accessories and gifts, we accept returns within 30 days of receipt, provided the items are unused and in their original packaging. Please contact our customer service team to initiate a return.
